Rodney Barreto is President, CEO, and Chief Visionary Officer of the Barreto Group and Barreto Hospitality. The Barreto Group is a diversified company specializing in corporate and public affairs consulting, real estate investment and development, and hospitality and entertainment. Mr. Barreto is also Vice-Chairman and a member of the Boards of Directors of two publicly traded companies. The first, Progressive Care Inc., is a health tech company focusing on the specialty pharmacy and health metric sectors. Progressive Care boasts several brick-and-mortar pharmacies specializing in medication adherence and white glove service for its patients. He also serves on the Board of NextPlat Inc., a global e-commerce and technology company that boasts satellite technology and an e-commerce partnership with Alibaba to take American-made products to the Chinese and Eurasian markets.
Mr. Barreto is also partner of Capital City Consulting – Miami LLC, a consulting firm that develops and manages effective corporate and public affairs strategies designed to achieve specific business results. Recognized by policy makers as one of the top public affairs firms in Florida, the team has achieved measurable results for dozens of companies based in Florida and throughout the United States.
His business interests, experience, and track record of success are extensive. Mr. Barreto was the owner and operator of Metro Parking, one of Miami-Dade County’s largest surface parking companies prior to the sale of the company years ago. Thereafter, Mr. Barreto went on to create, develop, and sell other wildly successful companies, including Healthcare Data Solutions, an electronic medical records solutions provider which was acquired by Aprima Medical Software, Inc., an industry leader in health and IT products.
More recently, Mr. Barreto became the CEO of Coral Gables Title + Escrow, LLC, (“CGTE”) a full-service real estate transaction firm that specializes in residential and commercial real estate closings across the State of Florida. CGTE is an industry leader in recently closed the second largest crypto currency real estate transaction in the history of Miami-Dade County at a sale price of approximately $7 million dollars. He is also the founder and CEO of Barreto Capital, LLC, a boutique lending company that focuses on commercial real estate.
Mr. Barreto has Chaired the Super Bowl Host Committee a record three (3) times, in the years 2007, 2010 and 2020. During his tenure, Mr. Barreto helped raise more than $100-million dollars and innumerable in-kind contributions for the success of Miami Super Bowls and has been involved with the Super Bowls since 1989. Super Bowl LIV IN 2020 was the 5th South Florida Super Bowl with which he has been involved.
Mr. Barreto is also a three-time appointee to the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (“FWC”) where he has served for over 10 years. First appointed by Governor Jeb Bush, later re-appointed by Governor Charlie Crist, and most recently by Governor Ron DeSantis, his passion for Florida’s natural resources is unparalleled. During his time with the Commission, Mr. Barreto had been elected to serve as Chairman of that Commission by his peers a record of seven (7) times. He was again named Chairman of the Commission in December of 2020. In recognition of his leadership, the Florida Fish and Wildlife Commission established the “Rodney Barreto Award” which is given out each year to the “Employee of the Year” for his or her outstanding achievement.
Mr. Barreto was the Chairman of the Florida Fish and Wildlife Foundation, a citizen-support organization of the FWC which provides aid, funding, and promotional support aimed to promote the health and well-being of Florida’s fish and wildlife resources and our natural habitats.
Mr. Barreto has also twice chaired the Annual U.S. Conference of Mayors, was Chairman of the 1999 Breeder’s Cup Championship held in South Florida and was the Chairman of the 1999 Sister Cities International Convention in Miami. The perennial “Chairman”, he was also Co-Chairman of the City of Miami Centennial Celebration in 1996. Mr. Barreto created the Big Orange New Year’s Eve Celebration in Downtown Miami, a Miami tradition that still takes place each New Year’s in Bayfront Park.
Currently Mr. Barreto is a member and current Membership Chairman of the Florida Council of 100. He serves on the Board of Directors of the Baptist Health South Florida Giving Society, the Bonefish and Tarpon Trust, the Guy Harvey Ocean Foundation, and the Florida Highway Patrol Advisory Council.
Prior to his career in public affairs and real estate, Mr. Barreto was a City of Miami police officer. He earned his Associate of Arts degree from Miami Dade Community College and his Bachelor of Arts degree in Professional Studies from Barry University. Mr. Barreto is married and lives with his wife Shelia in Coral Gables. The couple have 2 children, Brittney and Brad, two granddaughters, Emma and Kate, and one grandson, Luca.
Most recently, Mr. Barreto has taken his talents into the food, beverage, and hospitality industry. Through strategic business partnerships with some of South Florida’s finest Chefs and event professionals, Mr. Barreto has been instrumental in the opening (and re-opening) of some of South Florida’s most iconic restaurant and event venues including the famous Red Fish Grill and a recently announced partnership with Celebrity Chef Donatella Arpaia who has opened and operated many wildly successful restaurants in New York City including David Burke & Donatella and Bellini. Chef Donatella will be taking the reins at Red Fish Grill and at a second, yet to be named location in the heart of downtown Coral Gables at 45 Miracle Mile. Barreto Hospitality is one of the driving forces behind the rejuvenation of the Las Olas Riverfront in Ft. Lauderdale with the opening of the Ft. Lauderdale Wharf and the Rivertail restaurant with the famed Chef Jose Mendin at the helm. The riverfront has made an incredible come back as Ft. Lauderdale’s “place to be”.
